Prerequisites and Enrollment Criteria

In compliance with FIRST guidelines, only students in grades 7 and 8 are allowed to enroll.  Students must have completed the interview process and been accepted onto the team.  To adequately prepare for the competition season, students are required to commit to a total of 6 hours after-school each week. There will be four mandatory competitions scheduled between November and February, which will take place on a Saturday or Sunday.

Description

Robotics: FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) is a competitive, team-based elective in which students design, build, program, and refine robots to compete in the official FIRST Tech Challenge season. Students apply engineering principles, programming skills, and strategic problem-solving while collaborating to meet game-specific objectives. The course emphasizes real-world engineering practices, teamwork, communication, and perseverance as students prepare for and participate in FTC tournaments.
